Dubrovnik, 28 December – Dino Merlin, The Pravila igre and The Songkillers will take Dubrovnik's residents and visitors to the year 2018 at a memorable New Year's Eve Party in the Stradun on Sunday, 31 December, beginning at 9.00 pm.
The craziest night of the year in the Stradun will be preceded by Children's New Year's Eve Party beginning at 11.00 am in front of St Blaise's Church, and the participants will include The Animino group with jugglers and a breakdance show. Children's caroling will start at 10.30 am. The carolers will include attendants of the Matica Hrvatska's Christmas Carols and Songs Workshop, while Santa and his elves will be welcomed by children, The Ad Libidum band and The Lazareti Dance Studio. All of them will do their best to make this event a day to remember for the youngest visitors.
The traditional caroling by the Linđo Folklore Ensemble, the Libertas Choir and the Dubrovnik Brass Band will take place at 12.00 noon, followed by a Cocktail Show as an introduction to New Year's Eve.
On the preceding day, Saturday, 30 December, The Frajle band will begin to create New Year's mood in a concert beginning at 9.00 pm in front of St Blaise's Church. In addition to the main New Year's Eve party in the Stradun, a New Year's Eve Party will also be organised at Lazareti on 31 December beginning at 10.00 pm.
The first day of the year 2018 will be enhanced by the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra's New Year's Concert beginning at 12.00 noon in the Stradun, which is traditionally held with oysters and champagne. The orchestra will perform waltzes and popular arias under the baton of Ivan Josip Skender, featuring the soprano Nikolina Pinko. On that same day, the 4th International Torch of Peace Race will be held in the Stradun beginning at 2.00 pm.
The Dubrovnik Winter Festival's Main Information Centre at Luža offers a large variety of souvenirs. Until the end of the year, the visitors who buy a Festival cup and umbrella will get one free of charge item of their choice. During the aforementioned period, the visitors can buy the Dubrovnik Winter Festival's large note pads at a 20% discount.
