5TH DUBROVNIK WINTER FESTIVAL OPENED!

Last night, the most beautiful street in the world, Stradun, was illuminated with Christmas lights, the first Advent candle was lit, and concert of Petar Grašo marked the opening of the fifth Dubrovnik Winter Festival music programme.

Mayor Mato Franković greeted numerous citizens who gathered for the occasion and officially opened the Festival, wishing everyone have a wonderful December in the City with the excellent programme of the 5th Dubrovnik Winter Festival. Stradun was crowded with people who welcomed the opening of winter festivities and the Festival mascot - the golden Teddy Bear, and sang Paola Dražić Zekić's song Dubrovnik is Decorated with the Dubrovnik Children's Choir, as well as Zaton Christmas Carol.

Last night's appearance was the first of many upcoming December concerts of Dubrovnik Children's Choir and attendants of Christmas Carols and Songs workshop organised by Matica hrvatska Dubrovnik and Drama and Music workshop organised by Marin Držić House, led by Paola Dražić Zekić and Sanja Dražić. Successful concert of one of the most popular Croatian singers, Petar Grašo, which opened the main music programme, was organised in collaboration with Star produkcija.

Highlight of the programme for children this year is the North Pole Station in Luža, which will be opened today, on 2 December at 15:00, with elf party and creative workshops for children held by Le Petit Festival du Theatre & Lazareti Dance Studio. North Pole Station will be open for youngest visitors until the end of winter holidays every day from 16:00 to 19:00, and family programmes will also take place at the cinema hall, where visitors can enjoy St Nicholas’ show, Dance Collage, Kindergarten Christmas Magic, Magic Winter Dance and Cinderella, and travel back in time with the most wonderful Christmas films of all times.

Tonight, on 2 December, Klapa Ragusa will sing for the citizens of Dubrovnik at 21:00 at the Gundulić Square, while concert of Maja Grgić, Igor Vlahušić and Željko Barač will take place at Brsalje at the same time.

During the Festival, every day from 17:00 to the last departure in the evening, Libertas buses will operate free of charge on all city lines (including lines 26, 28 and 35). Free XMAS BUS will also operate on the following route: Main Bus Station - Grawe - Pile - Vojnović - Lapad Post Office and Lapad Post Office - Vojnović - Pile - Main Bus Station.
